1C1 Calcifying Pseudoneoplasm Neuraxis (Case 1) CD68 13.jpg
1C1-3 Immunohistochemical staining demonstrates CD68 immunoreactivity in the peripheral marginating cells at several magnifications. CD68 is a glycoprotein used as a monocyte/macrophage marker but is relatively non-specific and CD68 immunohistochemistry is capable of staining fibroblasts, myeloid and dendritic cells. CD163 is specific for the monocyte/macrophage lineage; it has been reported as negative in a recent small study (Soukup et al., PMID: 34432164). CD163 immunoreactivity was not examined in any of our old cases. Histiocytic elements are present but large numbers of foamy macrophages are not typical. (CD68 IHC)
