Case 1 History
The patient is a 46yo male with a two-month history of progressive proximal lower extremity weakness with lab/EMG findings of myopathy of unclear etiology. He has IGA nephropathy, end-stage renal disease and is on dialysis. Recent skin biopsy was suggestive of calciphylaxis. Clinicians requested a muscle biopsy to assess for metabolic vs. genetic vs. immune mediated myopathies. Operative procedure: Left quadriceps muscle biopsy.
