1B1,2 This image and the next one show the ventral aspect of the CNS which is remarkable for irregularity at the chiasm (arrow, 1B1) and surrounding and distorting the brainstem contours (arrowheads) in particular. The fixed specimen (#1B2) better demonstrates mild opacification of the leptomeninges of the base of the brain compared to the fresh specimen.
