1E5,6 Damage to the optic nerve/tracts resulted in transneuronal degeneration of patches of neurons in the lateral geniculate body. Different LGN layers in 1E5 show neuronal preservation (arrow) and loss (arrowheads). In other sites neuron loss is present within individual layers (arrow, IE6) (H&E)
