1G3-5 Transverse sections of the brainstem show a small, angulated, almost triangular appearance to the basis pontis with decreased gray matter of the basis and collapsed white matter tracts. Multiple levels of the pons demonstrate loss of material in the basis pontis and convert its normal round contours to the triangular contour seen here.
