2B2A,B The left sided LGN involvement is comparable to the right side. The hippocampal formation is well preserved in neuronal density. There are relatively few senile plaques, neurofibrillary tangles and Hirano bodies. The lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) shows neuronal shrinkage and loss in layers 3-6 with relative preservation of the magnocellular layers 1&2. (H&E)
