11O1-4 LC3 (Microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3) is a cytosolic and nuclear protein that serves as a core marker for autophagy. In its soluble form (LC3-I), the protein is distributed throughout the cytosol and nucleus, but with the induction of autophagy, it is lipidated into LC3-II, which directly binds to the double-membrane structures of autophagosomes. LC-3 stains the small vacuoles in many muscle fibers reflecting the autophagic participation in the process.(LC-3 IHC)
