Case 4 History ---- The patient is a 75-year-old man with a history of cardiac transplantation in 1995 for ischemic cardiomyopathy and squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, status-post right upper lobectomy in 1999, who now has progressive weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging evaluation for spinal stenosis in 4/2006 showed mild lumbar disk bulging without canal stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing. Clinical diagnosis: Myopathy. Operative procedure: Left quadriceps muscle biopsy. ---- 4A1A-C In this case the vacuoles and autophagic material are relatively unimpressive. (Plastic sections)
