1A1-3 H&E shows a muscle fascicle with an inflammatory infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes and histiocytes. In fascicles there is marked perifascicular atrophy with focal increase in cell density. Rare pallid fibers may represent necrosis but they are neither numerous nor prominent. (H&E)
