The smallest fibers are round or polygonal and are located at the edge of fascicles. Some of the smaller fibers at the edge of fascicles are basophilic with large internal nuclei while others have vacuolated internal architecture. Endomysial connective tissue is mildly increased in regions with more muscle fiber pathology at the edge of fascicles. A perimysial vessel has surrounding cellularity. Some regions of perimysium are pale and others have cells abutting the edge of fascicles
