Additional examples of curvilinear inclusions in this case. (electron micrographs) ---- Comment: The presence of curvilinear bodies in this case was unanticipated without a compatible history. Subsequent review of the patient’s chart showed a history of Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) treatment which had been stopped some time previous to the skeletal muscle biopsy. In other cases of more active hydroxychloroquine toxicity multilamellar “myelin figures” have been significantly more common than rare/non-existent examples in this case. The ultrastructural appearance of this case may reflect the extended period of time between administration and discontinuing the drug and biopsy.
