6A1-3 H&E stained muscle shows many fibers, including those in atrophic groups, have internal cracks and/or vacuolated sarcoplasm, some with granular debris within vacuoles. Endomysial connective tissue ranges from normal to mildly increased among fascicles. Some of the fibers with vacuoles have very basophilic sarcoplasm. (H&E)
