Ultrastructure of the deltoid muscle biopsy: ---- 18D1 This is the typical ultrastructural appearance of the majority of deltoid fibers in this case. The population of mitochondria is composed of small mildly pleomorphic mitochondria, located appropriately and have no intramitochondrial inclusions. The deltoid muscle mitochondria are markedly different from the paraspinal muscle mitochondria even though the biopsies were performed at the same time and processed together identically.
