18D2A-C This is the only major subsarcolemmal collection of mitochondria in this deltoid biopsy. The mitochondria are small, minimally pleomorphic and without inclusions, particularly in comparison to the paraspinal muscle shown in images 18B1-3. There are scattered lipopigment granules, most are unassociated with collections of mitochondria. (electron micrographs)
