Case 25 History ---- The patient is a 30-year-old man with a history of lipid storage myopathy and mitochondrial mutations. A biopsy was performed to assess extent of disease and response to treatment. Operative procedure: Right deltoid muscle needle biopsy. Not shown: COX shows a few fibers with reduced staining. SDH stains scattered small fibers dark. Lipid storage is more severe in this biopsy than the previous one. ---- 25A1A,B These plastic sections show increased dense cytosomes and lipid droplets.
