The abnormal internal mitochondrial structure is well seen in this higher magnification image. (electron micrographs) ---- Comment: Mitochondrial stains are generally unremarkable, nor is there storage material on PAS or Sudan stains. This biopsy was thought to represent mitochondriopathy but was not compelling for the diagnosis of a mitochondrial myopathy. No mitochondrial inclusions were identified.
