Scattered lipopigment aggregates are seen in isolation in several fibers. (electron micrographs) ---- Comment: There are small mitochondrial abnormalities in the paraspinal muscle in this aged patient which might make a diagnosis of mitochondriopathy but not a diagnosis of mitochondrial myopathy.
