Case 9 History ---- The patient is a 26 year-old-man with a history of congenital heart defect s/p Fontan procedure who was admitted with Fontan-associated liver disease. Ultimately, the patient underwent a combination heart and liver transplant in June 2026 but remained critically ill. There is concern for critical illness myopathy due to steroid Rx and chronic immune suppression. ---- 9B1 This low magnification image shows several muscle fibers which appear much denser than the fiber in the lower portion of the image.
