In this case the myofibrillar apparatus and its circumferential ring of misoriented elements are well fixed and are accompanied by scattered mitochondria and lipid droplets. (electron micrographs). ---- The final diagnosis in this patient was probable mitochond1ial disorder with reduced Complex I and Complex III activities. Other mitochondrial oxidative enzyme activity levels were normal.
