Smooth muscle actin immunohistochemistry was used to examine the blood vessels which appear to be disorganized by reactive cells moving through vessel walls and not by primary angiitis. Vasculitis is also less favored by the demyelinative rather than necrotic appearance of the NF immunolabeled axon population.
