1B1-3 In some cases nearly the entire brainstem cross section may be involved as shown in this section stained with H&E (1B1), LFB-PAS (myelin, 1B2) and neurofilament immunohistochemistry (axons, 1B3). Note the relative preservation of axons in extensively demyelinated regions.
