7B1-9 The plaque shown grossly in image 7A1 has been stained to demonstrate its constituent elements. Each image pair consists of a whole mount and a 20X image taken at the same site in the demyelinated plaque. ---- 7B1,2 H&E stained material shows plaque pallor and a sharp border with the adjacent white matter. The higher magnification image contains no inflammatory cells or macrophages and consists only of scattered astrocytes and axons. (H&E)
