7A0 Case 7 History
Case 7 History ---- The patient was a 79-year-old Caucasian woman with a past medical history of MS diagnosed in 1988, neurogenic bladder, immobility due to multiple sclerosis, multiple urinary tract infections, gout, eczema, cataracts, gastroesophageal reflux disease, depression, and osteoporosis. She has been wheelchair-bound since 1998 and was living in a nursing home due to her immobility. She was hospitalized for several days as the result of pneumonia which resolved after a course of antibiotics. She was later hospitalized for a urinary tract infection with bacteremia, hypoxia, and pulmonary edema. She was discharged to her nursing home on a 14 day course of intravenous antibiotics. She died four months later. Her total course of MS was 22 years.
