8A0 Case 8 History
Case 8 History ---- This is a 64 year old male with a long history of multiple sclerosis. He was first diagnosed 8 years prior to death with symptoms which included stiffness, back pain and gait imbalance. This diagnosis was supported by MRI and a lumbar puncture which showed an IgG index of 1.15 and oligoclonal bands. He developed optic neuritis of the left eye in 2001. His most recent symptoms included weakness/clumsiness, trouble walking, fatigue, tremors, cramps or spasms, numbness/tingling, neurogenic bladder, constipation, sexual problems, depression, anxiety and metastatic melanoma originating from his face, diagnosed two years prior. Workup revealed metastatic disease in his lungs and brain. His terminal course is not known to us. No metastatic disease was discovered in his spinal column, cord or leptomeninges at autopsy.
