4A0 Case 4 History
Case 4 History ---- The patient was a 48 year old woman with a history of MS diagnosed at the age of 13. She became a quadriplegic and was been bed-bound for 18 years. Her past medical history included frequent hospital admissions for urinary tract infections and pneumonia. She was admitted for the last time with a history of cough, low grade fever and shortness of breath; sputum cultures grew abundant Staphylococcus aureus. Despite appropriate antibiotic treatment, the patient did not improve and became hypotensive and developed increasing respiratory distress with decreasing mental status. Because of her poor prognosis, continued support with vasopressors was stopped and she expired.
