8A0 Case 8 History
Case 8 History ---- The decedent is a 66-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis diagnosed at age 34 after an episode of optic neuritis the previous year. She was treated with Avonex for some time. Her muscular strength worsened over the following years and she lost the use of her legs 10 years prior to her death. Subsequently, she had gradual loss of motor function in her upper extremities as well as cognitive problems. Her clinical course included multiple treatments with steroid medications. Her most recent imaging was an MRI performed 8 years prior to her death which showed findings consistent with demyelinating disease. She expired at home 32 years following her diagnosis of MS.
