2E1-3 The axonal population in the specimen is illustrated by neurofilament immunohistochemistry. ---- Numerous axons are seen in the normal myelinated region at the right image margin and although there is a an apparent decrease in the axon density at the left margin, there is a clear preferential preservation of axons in areas of myelin loss.
