2H1-5 Ultrastructural examination of the sural nerve shows abnormal lipidic, faintly striated, inclusions within very rare Schwann cells. Although the number of axons is not significantly diminished in this sural nerve, the Schwann cell cytoplasm contains shard-like crystals. (electron micrographs)
