Washington University Experience | MYELIN (NON-IMMUNE MEDIATED) | Binswangers | 2E Case 2 Autopsy Findings
Autopsy Findings Multiple ischemic lesions ranging from myelin pallor with edema to well-defined remote infarcts, in association with sclerotic arterioles with 'onion-skin' type thickening characterize the neuropathology of this patient. There was no evidence of Alzheimer Dz, Pick Dz, corticobasal degeneration, PSP, multiple system atrophy, diffuse Lewy body disease or other established neurodegenerative disorder. Considering this patient's history of dementia, these changes are most consistent with subcortical ischemic vascular disease.
