3A1-10 Multiple coronal sections show the neuropathologic findings in this case. 3A1 Section at the level of the basal ganglia show numerous infarcts involving the subcortical white matter (arrowhead) and deep infarcts within the basal ganglia involving the internal capsule adjacent to the basal ganglia and within it (arrow). Often when there are visible macroscopic elements numerous microscopic infarcts may be seen at higher magnification.
