1D2 CADASIL (Case 1) LFB-PAS 40X
There has been a significant loss of individual axons and their myelin sheaths but little evidence that myelin is preferentially damaged as might be expected in a demyelinative process. Notice in this case, there is little evidence of inflammatory cells or macrophages in perivascular or parenchymal distribution. The appearance of small arterioles in the white matter is heavily stained which hides the substructure of the vessel wall (LFB-PAS)
