Pallor, astrocytosis, vascular hyalinization and acellular microvasculature is noted in this white matter lesion. Small- to medium-sized vessels within the white matter show paucicellular hyalinized thickening with focal mild to significant edematous expansion of the Virchow-Robin spaces. (H&E)
