2C1,2 Routinely stained hemisected pons is seen at two different magnifications (whole mount & 4X) demonstrating a central area of pallor (arrow, 2C1) and, at higher magnification an apparent increase in cellularity in the absence of perivascular inflammatory cuffing (H&E).
