Washington University Experience | MYELIN (NON-IMMUNE MEDIATED) | Delayed Radionecrosis | 1A0 Case 1 History
Case 1 History ---- The patient was a 43 year old woman with breast cancer, initially diagnosed in 2009, 6 years prior to her demise in 2015. In 2013, the patient experienced left-sided weakness due to a lesion in the right frontoparietal region, for which she underwent resection, demonstrating metastatic breast cancer which was followed by gamma knife treatment to the resection bed completed in April 2014. Seven months following completion of the radiotherapy, the patient reported headaches and vision changes which prompted an MRI examination. The MRI scans suggested the possibility of residual/recurrent tumor in the prior tumor bed and the patient underwent re-resection of part of the parietal lobe. The neurosurgical specimen consisted of fragments of brain parenchyma with extensive reactive changes and no evidence of neoplasia.
