This image is of a rather unassuming lesion involving the cerebral cortex and is surrounded by cortical neurons. In this case the pathology is largely hemorrhage with relatively little surrounding ischemic changes in neurons. Notice the microvessel whose nucleus has been displaced by an intravascular fat droplet (arrowhead, H&E)
