2A1-3 The weight of the unfixed brain is 1240 grams. The cortical gray matter does not contain areas of hemorrhage, softening, or cystic tissue loss. The basal ganglia, thalamus, brainstem and cerebellum also appear grossly unremarkable. The subcortical and deep white matter appears expanded and slightly discolored including the corpus callosum. The lateral ventricles are collapsed.
