1A1-5 The brain weight at the time of autopsy was 1090 grams (normal for age ~1400 grams). Multiple coronal sections of the cerebral hemispheres show confluent discoloration of the white matter in the centrum semiovale and digitate white matter with prominent U-fiber sparing. ---- 1A1 The lateral ventricles are dilated predominantly as the result of loss of white matter.
