Washington University Experience | MYELIN (NON-IMMUNE MEDIATED) | Necrotizing Leukoencephalopathy | 1B2A DNL (Case 1) H&E AA
1B2A-C Higher magnification of the basis pontis from 1B1A-C shows foci of DNL involving the basis pontis stained routinely (H&E, 1B2A), for myelin (LFB-PAS, 1B2B) and axons (Bielschowsky, 1B2C). Lesions particularly involve white matter, both transverse and proximo-distal projections, in the striate pons in which myelin is lost with a degree of axon loss. Notice that the individual lesions are not inflammatory.
