1A4,5 The perivascular cellular aggregates are monocyte/macrophage in origin with large PAS-reactive granules and very few typical foamy macrophages. Oligodendrocytes are significantly diminished in number in areas with myelin pallor. In most sites, perivascular cells are accompanied by rare lymphocytes (LFB-PAS)
