13C1 Craniopharyngioma (Case 13) H&E WM
13C1-4 Sections of the "right periorbital infratemporal fossa mass," show fragments of muscle and fibroadipose tissue with a tumor composed of epithelium arranged in cords, lobules and trabeculae bordered by palisaded columnar epithelium. These islands of densely packed epithelium merge with loosely cohesive aggregates of epithelium known as stellate reticulum. Nodules of wet keratin with pale nuclei embedded within an eosinophilic keratinous mass are also noted. Mitotic figures are not readily identified. There is a prominent chronic inflammatory response associated with the tumor.
