Washington University Experience | NEOPLASM (SELLAR) | Pituitary Adenoma - Pituitary Neuroendocrine Neoplasm | Corticotroph | 8A2 PA CR (Case 8) H&E 2
8A2,3 Sections of the resected sellar and suprasellar mass show a pituitary adenoma. Epithelioid tumor cells have prominent cell borders, moderate amounts of amphophilic cytoplasm and conspicuous deposition of perinuclear Crooke’s hyaline. The nuclei are unusual in that there are prominent nucleoli and the typical speckled chromatin of neuroendocrine tumors is absent. Mitotic activity is present (~1 mitosis/10 HPFs).
