The one-micron thick toluidine blue stained plastic sections show variation in the granularity of individual tumor cells and scattered fibrous bodies. ---- Not shown: Reactivity for ACTH) and TSH is negative. Nuclear immunoreactivity for the proliferation marker Ki67 is low, identified in 2%. Only rare tumor cells show nuclear immunoreactivity for p53 protein. ---- This histological/immunohistochemical pattern is consistent with pituitary (somatotroph) adenoma.
