Case 4 History ---- [40yo female with blurred vision in the right eye and a 15-pound weight gain in 4 months. Labs: IGF-1 of 752 (normal, 100-250). MRI differentially enhancing 1.5 x 1.1 cm right pituitary lesion. Operative procedure: Endonasal transsphenoidal resection.] ---- 4A1-5 Tumor cells are characterized by moderate amounts of eosinophilic cytoplasm, and round, regular, minimally atypical nuclei arranged in predominantly sheet-like architecture. Scattered islands and individual examples of cells with a bright, granular eosinophilic cytoplasm are identified. Mitotic activity is not seen. High power examination of the routine H&E stained sectioned demonstrates pale, eosinophilic spherical inclusions located in a perinuclear location in many of the tumor cells.
