Case 5 History ---- [28yo female with hirsutism, physical features of acromegaly, increased serum IGF-1 and a sellar mass on MRI. Operative findings of soft tan pale mass consistent with adenoma.] ---- 5A1-4 Sections of the "pituitary tumor," show sheets of round to polygonal, predominantly acidophilic cells with vesicular nuclei and stippled chromatin. Cytoplasm varies from eosinophilic to pale. Many of the cells have an inclusion, pale or eosinophilic designated fibrous bodies.
