Case 3 History ---- The patient is a 76 year old man with a recurrent pituitary tumor in 2003, first resected in 1995. ---- 3A1-4 Sections reveal a solid-appearing, predominantly spindle cell tumor with clear to granular eosinophilic cytoplasm. Islands of more epithelioid morphology are also seen. The tumor cells have somewhat open chromatin and prominent nucleoli with an oval to spindled morphology. Occasional mitoses are seen.
