This is an unusual appearing subcellular constituent, not obviously related to mitochondria. (electron micrographs) ---- Not shown: There is no immunoreactivity for synaptophysin, chromogranin, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA), cytokeratin (CAM 5.2) or collagen IV in this case. Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) highlights sparse glial elements entrapped by the tumor. Reactivity for proliferation marker Ki67 (MIB-1 antibody) stains tumor cell nuclei at variable density that ranges focally up to 1.4%.
