Washington University Experience | NEOPLASMS (EMBRYONAL) | ATRT - Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor | 13B2 ATRT (Case 13) H&E 5
13B2-6 The tumor is a relatively solid, highly cellular neoplasm with areas of necrosis. It is composed of small primitive cells with hyperchromatic oval nuclei. There are also areas with increased pleomorphism in cell size. A significant number of the tumor cells have an epithelioid quality with eccentric bellies of eosinophilic cytoplasm, consistent with rhabdoid cells. The mitotic index is brisk and there are many pyknotic nuclei.
