H&E stained sections show a solid proliferation of poorly differentiated malignant cells with irregular nuclear membranes, vesicular chromatin, macronucleoli, and a small amount of amphophilic/basophilic cytoplasm with focal perinuclear clearing. Mitoses and karyorrhectic debris are abundant.
