8A5 ATRT (Case 8) H&E 40X
This is a high grade neoplasm with multifocal necrosis and various morphologies. In some areas, the tumor is composed of sheets of polygonal cells with eccentric nuclei and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, imparting a rhabdoid appearance. However, in other areas, the neoplastic cells have oval or elongated hyperchromatic nuclei and indistinct or spindled cytoplasmic processes reminiscent of astrocytes.
