9B ATRT (Case 9) A16-84_1
The specimen consisted of brain and spinal cord. The brain is very soft and markedly friable with minimal preservation of its landmarks. The weight of the fixed brain is 700 gm. The convolutions are markedly macerated and the brain is extremely soft. Only a few areas of brain are identifiable including part of the brainstem attached to the cerebellum. Palpation of the macerated brain identifies a mass-like lesion which was interpreted as thalamus. A number of gelatinous collections are noted in what appears to be leptomeninges and/or ventricle.
